How Do I Abide In You?
Lord, how do I abide in you? Let’s start with what it means to abide. The word abide means to “continue, remain, dwell, or stay.” It is the idea of a life-giving connection with Christ that produces His character and accomplishes His will in us. As Charles Spurgeon noted, abiding means, “yielding ourselves up to Him to receive His life and to let that life work out its results in us.”
What’s Next God? The core focus of abiding is a worship-based prayer. It is the commitment to always start our prayers from the word of God. KJV John 15:4, “Abide Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, expect you abide in Me.” Remaining in Christ means; believing that He is God’s Son. NIV 1 John 4:14-15, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us, and if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him.”
What’s Next God? It is so easy in our hurried approach to prayer to blow into God’s presence, conduct our daily data dump so we can be relieved of our worries, but not come away revived in our worship. All too often, we go into God’s presence with a list of requests as we try to talk God into granting our desires. We act as if God is just an ear, ready to hear what we have to say, but we are not willing to grant God His turn at getting a word in edgewise.
What’s Next God? The emphasis here is on God’s will, not our will. When we communicate with God, we don’t demand what we want; rather we discuss with him what He wants for us. If we align our prayers to His will, He will listen. Then we can be certain that if He listens, He will give us a definite answer. Mother Teresa once said, “To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it.”
What’s Next God? Because we sometimes don’t understand God’s timing, we become upset and frustrated, wondering when God is going to do something. But remember, God is on time, every time. God often is working the most when we see and feel it the least. Never fear, God is getting everything lined up in your life, even though you may not feel it, and you may not see it. Your situation may look just as it did for the past five years, but then one day, in a split second of time, God will bring it all together. When it is God’s timing all the forces of darkness can’t stop Him. When it’s your due season, God will bring it to pass.
What’s Next God? Find strength through adversity. “Do not let what you cannot do, interfere with what you can do.” John Wooden. 2 Chronicles 15:7 THE MESSAGE IS: Be strong, take heart, for a payday is coming! My mother used to say, “There is a payday for every hayday.” AMP Habakkuk 2:3, “The vision is yet for an appointed time….Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come.
What’s Next God? Stand firm on God’s word because God wants to do more than you can ask, think or imagine. He wants to restore good things to you in abundance. If you will focus on the right things, God will take your most horrendous battlefield and turn it into your greatest blessing field. Praise Him for who He is, not for just what He can do! Fear not! Nevertheless, He is right beside you no matter what it looks like. HEBREWS 11:1, “Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
You are “The Child of the King of Kings!”
